All you need to know about: Labia minora reduction

For some women, the labia minora might cause discomfort during activities like cycling or walking or intercourse.  Women can also feel self-conscious about their appearance and size.

Labiaplasty refers to the surgical procedure that aims to reduce the size of the labia minora.

What are Labia minora?

The labia minora are little folds of thin, fragile skin that appear on either side of the vaginal introitus.

What happens during the labia minora surgery?

Preparing for labia minora reduction surgery begins with a full discussion between you and Dr. Frank Conroy. This session allows the patient to express their problems, goals, and expectations.

Labiaplasty can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. The treatment normally takes one to two hours.

Dr. Frank will perform the procedure and close the wounds with very fine, dissolvable stitches to prevent unattractive scars. Most women return home on the day of their operation.

  • Wear loose clothing and a panty liner for the first few days following surgery.
  • For approximately two weeks, refrain from any rigorous activity or exercise for around four weeks.
  • After around 2-3 weeks, you should be able to resume your normal activities.
